Job Description

Medicine Hat College is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to fill the role of Associate Dean – Business. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the business programs and support the Division of Arts, Education and Business.

Reporting to the Dean of Arts, Education and Business, the Associate Dean is an integral member of the management team, and is responsible for providing collaborative leadership to Business and the designated areas within Arts, Education and Business. This includes a comprehensive range of programs and services such as recruitment and retention of staff and students, teaching and learning, training, development and succession planning, academic development and management, and monitoring the academic performance and success of students.

The Associate Dean provides direction to a comprehensive portfolio of programs and services within the division, with a focus in certificate, diploma and degree offerings in business and administrative office professional. This position is a key advocate for MHC and the Business Programs to the internal and external stakeholders and building relationships within the division, across the institution, and throughout the community.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant academic discipline; PhD preferred
  • A combination of 6 years’ instructional experience at a post-secondary level and leadership and management experience including the following:
    • Working collaboratively within a team environment
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
    • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • An equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and relevant work experience may be considered
