Description

This is an exceptional career opportunity for a leader to provide strategic consultancy and management support that will contribute to and influence the success of the College’s mission, vision and values.

Centennial College prepares people to excel in the careers they want and the ever-changing world they face. Through exemplary teaching, leadership and innovative programming that emphasizes new skills and blurs the line between work and learning, Centennial students graduate as global citizens aware of social justice and equity issues, capable of contributing anywhere in the world.

As Associate Vice President (AVP) of Strategic Alignment, and a member of Centennial’s Executive team, you’ll underpin the infrastructure necessary for the effective execution of strategy, the development of synergies and the clarity of decision-making processes. Reporting to the President and CEO of Centennial College, you will lead the development of business agendas, establish committee structures and encourage the development of synergistic solutions that foster capacity and improve the tracking and coordination of key institutional projects.

You are a leader and champion supporting an inclusive learning environment that is student-centred while you facilitate the engagement of all staff around commitment to the vision of the institution. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of innovative processes, structures and reporting frameworks that support evidence-informed executive decision-making and a culture of performance. You will work to strengthen institutional capacity to resolve and overcome intricate institutional issues and obstacles by working collaboratively with senior leadership across the college in addressing complex, cross-functional issues and strategic projects.

Key to the role is the responsibility to ensure that the President has the necessary information, advice and resources to successfully execute the College’s mandate and attain institutional objectives. You will provide strategic advice, insight, perspective and guidance on the effective management of resources, agendas and the implementation of College-wide initiatives. This role will see you enhance and develop systems to assure the consistent and integrated flow of project information spanning one or more divisions, track project schedules, financials and milestone achievements throughout the life cycle of key strategic initiatives.  In this way the incumbent contributes to increased efficiency, accountability and transparency, ensuring that executive decisions are synchronized, timely and robust.

The complexity and sensitivity of the responsibilities of the Office of the President and the Board of Governors will require you to embrace significant latitude and exercise judgement in dealing with a broad range of complex and sensitive situations. You will assist the President in supporting the Board of Governors’ decision-making as they embrace opportunities, including the successful execution of the Book of Commitments.

As the AVP Strategic Alignment you will provide context and timely, pertinent information to enable the President’s partnership with the Board in the interests of effective governance. You will be frequently called upon to represent the President & CEO and the mission and values of the College both internally and externally, initiating action or responding independently when required on behalf of the President and the Board of Governors.

To be considered for this pivotal executive role in education, submit your application, specifying the job title in the subject line of your email, to Phelpsgroup at careers@phelpsgroup.ca. Application deadline: September 27, 2019.

Centennial College and its Board of Governors value and embrace diversity, equity and inclusion as fundamental to our mission to educate students for career success within a context of global citizenship and social justice.

We recognize that historical and persistent inequities and barriers to equitable participation exist and are well documented in society and within the college.

We believe individual and systemic biases contribute to the marginalization of designated groups. These biases include race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, ancestry, nationality, place of origin, colour, ethnicity, culture, linguistic origin, citizenship, creed (religion, faith), marital status, socio-economic class, family status, receipt of public assistance or record of offence. We acknowledge that resolving First Nations sovereignty issues is fundamental to pursuing equity and social justice within Canada.

We acknowledge the richness and diversity of the community we serve. As our community has evolved, and our staff and student population have changed, we have implemented policies and practices to address issues of inclusion. In moving forward, we will build on this work to embed commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in every aspect of what we do.
