It is within this context that the College is now recruiting its next Dean, Faculty of Arts, Media, and Design.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Academic, the Dean is accountable for contributing to the academic well-being and growth of the College and for providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, support, and direction to four Academic Chairs, an Associate Chair, a Business Administrator, Professors and Support Staff in the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design. The Dean is accountable for the planning development delivery and on-going review of the faculty’s full-time and part-time post-secondary programs including Bachelor degrees in applied studies and joint collaborative degrees with two local universities. The Dean has the accountability to ensure that the programs/courses are responsive and relevant to the needs of the students and the community at large and conform to accreditation requirements and national/provincial standards wherever applicable. Finally, the Dean is accountable for five departments including the School of Media and Design, the Academic Access Centre, the Experienced Worker Centre, Academic Partnerships, and the Language Institute.
As a well-qualified candidate, you have a passion for student success and education. You have obtained a master’s level degree and bring senior level experience working within a post-secondary institution or a related sector, preferably within a large, unionized environment. You bring a strategic and consensus building approach to administrative and academic leadership and a demonstrated understanding and commitment to teaching excellence and quality education, preferably within an applied post-secondary environment. You also have a demonstrated understanding of student engagement and understand the value and practice of applied research. Your open, transparent, and collaborative approach will serve you well in working with students, faculty, staff, alumni, government officials, employers, and community stakeholders to achieve mutual goals. Finally, experience within the media or design sector would be a definite asset.
