Excluded position: Grid 14, $92,969.00 - $123,958.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications as per NLC’s Excluded Salary Scale. An excellent benefit package is offered, including extended health and dental benefits. Annual vacation is pro-rated and front-loaded, based on 210 hours/FTE, as well as time off paid for the period between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Schedule is Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week.  Enrolment in the College Pension Plan is mandatory, and contributions are matched by the employer.

Connaissances et compétences


  • Six years of experience with a combination of teaching and educational administrative and supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of learning technologies and course delivery modalities (e.g., online, hybrid/blended, hyflex, flipped).
  • Expertise in curriculum/program development and program review.
  • Expertise in proposal writing, grant management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of labour market trends (particularly resource-based industries) and economic landscape of the College-region and province (British Columbia).
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Knowledge of K-12 and post-secondary systems in British Columbia.
  • Current and valid driver's license is required.

Tâches et responsabilités

The Dean of Continuing Education (CE) provides leadership for the strategic direction and operations of the CE division in the development and delivery of programming (e.g., professional development, pre-college education, general interest courses and workforce training) utilizing diverse delivery modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, blended/hybrid, and hyflex). Additionally, the Dean will foster innovation among staff in exploring and delivering new courses/programs, credentialling (e.g., micro-credentials), and delivery models. The Dean will be a highly engaged, visible, empathetic, and collaborative leader with a deep understanding of the ever-shifting challenges facing higher education and continuing education.

The Dean will build upon current strengths and collaboratively shape the future strategic direction of the division of Continuing Education while aligning with broader College strategies and planning initiatives. The Dean of Continuing Education will meet programming and training needs of external stakeholders by building upon existing deep relationships and maximizing new opportunities with local indigenous communities, industry, local businesses, regional municipalities, and provincial and government entities.

The Dean will recommend and implement, policies and procedures, and initiatives related to the advancement and improvement of workforce training, courses to promote student success, and general interest courses that meet the needs of students and labour market demands of industry and college-region communities.

The Dean will manage annual operating budget of the division and approve expenditures of assigned budgets as well as manage operations on a cost recovery basis with revenue targets. The Dean will manage grants in the CE division to ensure compliance.  The Dean will oversee all grant-related activities, including seeking new funding sources, developing, and submitting grant reports to funding agencies.

***Travel is required throughout the region.


  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Training in project management or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
