Position Location: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

DUTIES
Red River College’s Centre for Learning and Program Excellence (CLPE) together with RRC’s School of Indigenous Education (SIE) has a permanent full-time position available for an Educational Developer with an Indigenous education focus. The successful applicant will collaborate with the CLPE’s team of Educational Developers and support RRC’s School of Indigenous Education on a variety of academic transformation initiatives. Educational Developers support program development and renewal, faculty support, development and delivery of faculty workshops, and recognition of prior learning (RPL). They also provide consultation for course-level design to enhance learning experiences in all learning environments, including blended and online. The incumbent will mentor and advise SIE Faculty in the creation of learning experiences and will help to develop and promote processes and strategies that preserve and protect Indigenous perspectives, values, and practices for a safe and sustainable future. They will initiate, support, and coordinate Indigenous participative, experiential, and land-based learning initiatives, adapting delivery methods as required (e.g., online during COVID). They will provide guidance and direction to ensure that changes for Indigenous equity, diversity, and inclusion are actualized.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in the field of Curriculum Development, Education, or a related subject. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in an Indigenous studies field
  • Self-identifies as an Indigenous/Aboriginal person with lived experience and expertise in Indigenous knowledges, epistemologies, methodologies, histories, traditions, and/or languages
  • Experience delivering or facilitating workshops for adult learners and first-generation learners
  • Experience in program and course design, development, delivery, and assessment
  • Experience with the practice of Indigenous culture, protocol, history, and knowledge systems
  • Experience with the pedagogies of land-based or applied education
  • Experience assisting, coaching, and supporting faculty to develop, revise, and adapt curricula
  • Experience hosting, coordinating, and conducting focus groups and community engagement opportunities
  • Experience with the use of technology in the delivery of education
  • Ability to work in a team and individually with limited supervision while managing ambiguity and adapting to changing circumstances
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, specifically when dealing with Indigenous Elders and community
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching in varied formats of delivery (online, blended, face to face)
  • Bachelor of Education degree

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
