Visual College of Art and Design (VCAD) specializes in educating and graduating students in leading programs including Architecture, Fashion, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Video Gaming, and Visual Effects. Reporting to Primacorp’s Office of the Chairman, with direct line reporting to Primacorp’s Deputy Chairman and Managing Director, the Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to enable VCAD to achieve its goals and maximize its potential, profitability, and expansion opportunities. The ED is responsible for leading and mentoring a professional team to develop and implement initiatives for the organization that are sustainable and innovative.
A trusted and respected leader, the ideal candidate is a business-savvy and influential leader with a multifaceted business mindset and the requisite industry and academic expertise to lead and optimize these two key areas of the organization. The ED will have experience and a keen interest in art + design and will have demonstrated success in forming and cultivating partnerships and strategic alliances with industry and government partners. Ambitious, entrepreneurial, and business-minded, the successful candidate will be accustomed to working in a dynamic and growing organization across Canada and known for their business acumen, interpersonal skills, and working style that fosters teamwork. Upbeat and optimistic, the preferred candidate will have proven strategic planning and negotiation experience, ideally within the arts + design / higher education industry or a related industry, and is respected as an individual who leads by example and whose successes are derived from excellent general management skills, including insightful visioning, careful planning, and skillful execution.
To be considered, candidates will ideally possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree plus 5 or more years of senior management experience. Experience in the Art and Design education industry is required, as is an Art and/or Design background. Candidates who demonstrate a comfortable knowledge of business financials and knowledge of the market changes and forces that could influence VCAD will be preferred.
