Work for JIBC and be a part of the big picture ¬– supporting justice and public safety professionals at all stages of their careers in fields including law enforcement, firefighting, paramedicine, security and emergency management.

An opportunity now exists to join JIBC as their Director, Health Sciences Division (HSD). Reporting to the Dean, School of Health, Community and Social Justice, the Director, HSD will lead a dedicated team working to align curriculum with national accreditation, professional standards, best practice, provincial licensing requirements, employer recommendations, and JIBC’s strategic priorities. You will participate in weaving Indigenous ways of thinking, being, relating and doing with integral health science knowledge and skills that paramedics use to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, and appropriate care for patients, and oversee the ongoing development and implementation of the PCP Diploma and development of paramedicine education and research strategies, instructional design and curriculum development to support evidence-informed decision making related to clinical practice.

As the ideal candidate, you bring experience at a senior leadership level ideally in post-secondary education, within a relevant professional health faculty with specific experience in development, delivery and/or oversight of training and educational programs. You are knowledgeable in adult and paramedicine education principles and pedagogy and are able to drive best-practices in student experience to support student success.

A relevant graduate / master’s degree, (such as health, education, leadership) is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The salary range for this position is $138,740 – $163,225.

The Compensation Range shown reflects JIBC’s range for the role: between 85% and 100% of the sector range control point. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between 85% – 94% of the control point, based on the knowledge, qualifications and experience for the role, with exceptions in the 95% – 100% range.

JIBC hires for all positions based on merit. We’re committed to diversity within our community and especially welcome applications from visible minority group members, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.
