The Research Compliance Coordinator provides regulatory, ethics, contractual, and policy compliance monitoring, maintenance and reporting for all contractual, legislative and financial obligations related to applied research activities at Lakeland College. The position works closely with research staff on budget development for grants and contracts, monitors adherence to budgets, and advises on institutional policy and procedures and financial compliance requirements. The position also manages and monitors process and record keeping to remain in compliance with all levels of internal and external financial review and audit.

  • A minimum of a Diploma in a related field with three years’s experience (BSC is preferred)

Tâches et responsabilités

Compliance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensure policy compliance of research funds from external agencies (including Research Data Management and Research Security) and maintain fiscal accountability.
  • Manages and maintains databases necessary to track compliance from a financial, ethics, policy and legislative compliance perspective, ensures that contractual timelines for invoicing and reporting are met.
  • Prepares financial components of reports for funders.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all sponsor programs, guidelines, etc. and communicate changes as necessary.
  • Reviews and revises internal procedures as required by policy, contract, and legislative requirements.

Financial Monitoring and Analysis

  • Manages multiple budgets for major capital and research projects.
  • Identifies and resolves budgetary and financial issues.
  • Facilitates compliance with internal financial policies and procedures and external conditions of the grant/contract.
  • Advises and assists in the development of Applied Research budgets, analyzes current budgets for year-end projections and future forecasting.
  • Coordinates annual financial reports for projects/funders.
  • Key liaison with Financial Services team.

Grant and Contract Management

  • Supports the organization, planning, and preparation of institutional reports and proposals for federal agencies and non-federal agencies.
  • Reviews contracts to ensure financial conditions and contract specifications can be met and ensure compliance with Lakeland College standard practices and the funding agencies requirements.
  • Conducts preliminary risk assessment for proposals and research contract.
  • Manages Fee-For-Service contracts required for department related activities.
  • Liaise with sponsoring agencies both pre- and post-award in relation to grant applications/awards.

Administration and Management

  • Develop policies, procedures, guidelines and forms pertaining to research administration.
  • Regularly handle and provide direction on all aspects of confidential and sensitive documents.

Comment candidater

This is a full-time permanent AUPE appointment on the Vermilion campus with an anticipated start date of July 15, 2024. The current salary range is $4,700.16 - $5,923.17 per month.
