We recognize that First Peoples come from sovereign Nations and that part of understanding our responsibilities of residing on this territory are understanding the true history, circumstances and legacy of the Treaties signed here (such as the Toronto Purchase, Robinson-Huron Treaty and Williams Treaties) and including pre-contact Treaties and Agreements between sovereign Nations and that all peoples in this area are therefore Treaty people with obligations and responsibilities to all our relations.<\/p>\n<p>Position Summary<br \/>\nCentennial College\u2019s Faculty of Applied Science, Engineering Technology, Trades &amp; Transportation is looking for an engaging Professor to teach courses both theory in classrooms and labs within their Commercial Vehicle &amp; Heavy Equipment Technician Apprenticeship and Post- Secondary Programs, with the ability to teach all related subjects. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the successful candidate will support students in reaching their learning objectives through class, lab and apprenticeship placements to reach their Diploma\/Certificate program goals. The incumbent will also collaborate\/participate in program and course development, course modifications, lab maintenance\/improvement, program quality assurance\/accreditation, applied research initiatives, community outreach and on-going future program needs.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities<br \/>\n\u2022\tEffectively teach curriculum for all levels of apprenticeship and post-secondary learning with ability to teach in any subject area as prescribed by the Motive Power Program standards as well as the Apprenticeship In-school curriculum for Commercial Vehicle and Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician<br \/>\n\u2022\tCollaborate with faculty and staff to support and maintain laboratory facilities, vehicles, and equipment, while developing effective lab activities and objective assessments aligned with curriculum requirements<br \/>\n\u2022\tProvide and promote a respectful and supportive environment through communication and action, based on the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion with all students, faculty, staff, external partners and community members<br \/>\n\u2022\tEngage students to create a positive and accepting teaching and learning environment for all in person and virtual settings<br \/>\n\u2022\tEmploys and adapts appropriate teaching\/learning strategies; examines ongoing learning materials and instructional methods to eliminate potential bias or barriers (in accordance with college and program accreditation requirements)<br \/>\n\u2022\tEvaluate student achievement of learning outcomes using a variety of techniques<br \/>\n\u2022\tUse effective interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, management and external partners or community members, showing a sensitivity to intercultural communication<br \/>\n\u2022\tWork effectively in a team-based environment<br \/>\n\u2022\tUse a variety of appropriate teaching\/learning strategies including the use academic technology effectively to enhance and support learning both in person and online<br \/>\n\u2022\tDevelop, revise and adapt appropriate learning resources and evaluations for students<br \/>\n\u2022\tCollaborate with other faculty to enhance student learning opportunities and methods<br \/>\n\u2022\tCritically examine learning materials and classroom instructional practice for discriminatory bias or barriers<br \/>\n\u2022\tProvide academic support to students as part of regularly scheduled office hours and refer to appropriate college services as required<br \/>\n\u2022\tContribute as a subject matter expert to support curriculum development and revision<br \/>\n\u2022\tMaintain contacts with relevant industry and professional associations, to stay updated on industry trends<br \/>\n\u2022\tRemain current in technical knowledge and instructional delivery techniques<br \/>\n\u2022\tAttend and participate in meetings, maintains records of student grades\/assessments, and activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications\/Experience<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tHeavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate of Qualification (421A) or equivalent in and ongoing good standing is mandatory<br \/>\n\u2022\tMinimum of five (5) years of progressive and relevant experience as a licensed 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician. 310T Truck and Coach license is an asset.<br \/>\n\u2022\tPossess a high level of expertise in electrical system diagnosis, electro-hydraulic controls, multiplex system operation and diagnosis, powertrain diagnosis and repair.<br \/>\n\u2022\tCurrently registered (or completed) in the Teaching &amp; Learning in Higher Education program, or equivalent training and\/or two (2) years teaching experience in a trades-training context<br \/>\n\u2022\tKnowledge of adult education principles and the role of learning outcomes, instructional approaches, and evaluation techniques an asset.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrated competence in the use of office, instructional and trade-related computer software.<br \/>\n\u2022\tExperience in course or learning materials development preferred<br \/>\n\u2022\tFlexible and adaptable to change; able to pivot instruction to ensure successful student learning outcomes<br \/>\n\u2022\tProven communication, (written\/oral) interpersonal and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to clearly articulate expectations for students regarding learning outcomes, concepts and the evaluation techniques to be used<br \/>\n\u2022\tAbility to work independently and collaborate with others at all levels.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community<br \/>\n\u2022\tAbility to effectively manage a classroom and lab settings to ensure a quality learning experience<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrated ability to develop and deliver on-line classes in both asynchronous &amp;
