Description

The College of New Caledonia requires a full-time instructor to teach first and second year Aboriginal Studies courses. Successful completion of the probationary appointment will result in a regular full-time appointment.

In this role, you will contribute to a team that is actively engaged in accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College, and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities. You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect for students and colleagues.

Faculty Appointment Type: Full-time Probationary.

This is an HRSP Restricted position.
This position requires a person of Aboriginal ancestry who also meets all other necessary qualifications.
Preference will be given to persons with in-depth knowledge of Yinka Dene culture.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Masters of Arts in First Nation Studies or closely related discipline, with a four-year undergraduate degree; ability to teach in another field would be an asset
  • Post-secondary teaching and curriculum development experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal cultures and demonstrated engagement with communities
  • This position requires a person of Aboriginal ancestry who also meets all other necessary qualifications
