Reporting to the Dean, Peter’s School of Business, the Academic Chairperson provides leadership and direction for business and related programs delivered across Manitoba. As a key academic leader, the Academic Chairperson is responsible for fostering excellence in teaching and learning, supporting faculty and staff, and ensuring programs remain responsive to the changing needs of industry and employers. The role requires ongoing collaboration with business leaders, professional associations, community organizations, and government partners to support student success, workforce development, and economic growth.
We are seeking an experienced and collaborative leader who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about business education. The Academic Chairperson will lead program planning and implementation, support continuous quality improvement initiatives, and promote a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusivity, and student-centered learning. This includes ensuring learners receive high-quality educational experiences through classroom instruction, applied learning opportunities, industry projects, work-integrated learning, and community partnerships.

The ideal candidate brings leadership experience in one or more areas such as business administration, accounting, finance, marketing, human resource management, entrepreneurship, project management, office administration, or related disciplines, along with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with industry partners and advance programs that meet the evolving needs of Manitoba’s business community.

As Academic Chairperson, Media, Office and Technology Programs, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a dynamic portfolio of programs that prepare students for careers in creative media, office administration, and technology fields. Working closely with faculty, staff, industry partners, Indigenous communities, and College stakeholders, you will foster academic excellence, student success, and continuous innovation in teaching and learning. You will lead program planning, curriculum renewal, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure programs remain responsive to evolving industry trends and workforce needs, while supporting the effective use of specialized technologies, learning environments, and resources. Through collaborative leadership, partnership development, and a commitment to inclusive and student-centered education, you will help shape programs that are relevant, future-focused, and aligned with the College’s strategic priorities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Exceptional interpersonal, communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, Indigenous partners, healthcare organizations, and community partners.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in education and/or a related post-secondary environment, including program management, operational planning, budgeting, and team leadership.
* Background in office administration, creative media, network administration or other technology experience.
* Commitment to reconciliation and a demonstrated understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing, including experience working respectfully with First Nation communities, Indigenous organizations, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers.
* Knowledge of Canadian post-secondary education trends and a commitment to student-centered, inclusive, and culturally responsive teaching and learning practices.
* Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead change, manage competing priorities, and achieve results in a dynamic environment.
