Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the President, and as member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Associate Vice President, Human Resources provides strategic leadership to the College by developing and promoting a positive and effective human resources environment.
This position is responsible for the overall planning, development, implementation, administration, evaluation and effectiveness of a broad range of strategic managerial, administrative and operational activities related to Human Resources and Labour Relations functions. This includes developing and implementing an employee value proposition unique to Douglas College, employee and management development, responsibility for collective bargaining, collective agreement administration, labour and employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee strategic recruitment and selection, and retention of employees.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced human resources leader with a proven track record in a complex, multi-union, public sector environment, across all facets of human resources and labour relations. The successful candidate will have experience and understanding of HR best practices with the ability to influence, inspire, persuade, coach and communicate across diverse clients and stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate cross-cultural competencies and intercultural sensitivities, and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
