Applications are invited for the position of Associate Vice President, Learner Services.

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Learner Services is responsible for delivery and assessment of learner services including Enrolment Services, Student Services, Marketing & Recruitment, and Athletics & Recreation. Managing a team of directors you will lead the coordination and development of strategic plans, goals and objectives for increasing retention and graduation of students and clients of Niagara College. The AVP Learner Services will cultivate and foster an environment supportive of student access and success through collaboration, assistance and support of students within the academic divisions, supporting the extension of the classroom into co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. You will ensure on-going community engagement with local municipalities through active “town and gown” activities, and will provide leadership and active involvement with student leadership and representative groups to sustain a high level of student life on and off campus. The Associate Vice-President, Learner Services is a trusted advisor to the Senior Vice President, Academic & Learner Services and contributes in the overall management of the college as a member of the Executive Team.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience in providing leadership, oversight, and strategic direction that drives innovation and achieves organizational goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects and organizational change processes
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration and consensus building skills to foster key working relationships amongst diverse constituent groups
  • Outstanding budget acumen with a strong affinity for academic and student services
  • Excellent analytic skills related to policy, budget and operations issues
  • Knowledge and experience working effectively with varied student populations
Preferred candidates may also possess
  • Previous management experience in enrolment services and/or student services
  • Experience managing within a unionized environment
  • Strong working knowledge of administrative software systems

Education

  • Master’s degree with preference to specialization in an educational field
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant administrative leadership/management experience in the post-secondary education environment or the public sector settings
Preferred candidates may also possess:
  • A PhD in a relevant subject area
