Job Information
The Library Technician is located in Fort Smith, NT at the Thebacha Campus of Aurora College and reports to the Manager, Thebacha Campus Library and Electronic Resources Librarian. The position contributes to the campus and community learning centres by providing technical library support including cataloguing and digital resource access, user support including reference and information services, and support and assistance in the delivery of library programs and services to all staff and students. The library also serves external organizations and members of the public.
The Library Technician will have a broad knowledge of library and information policies, procedures, methods, ethics and professional standards as well as knowledge of computerized research and information gathering systems and methods. The incumbent will have a good working knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system, RDA, AACR2R, and MARC formats, as well as integrated library systems, information database systems, the capabilities and information resources of the Internet and Microsoft Programs. They will also have good listening skills and have the ability to train and work effectively with others.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
The completion of a 2-year Library Technician diploma program, and one (1) year of related library experience.
Assets: Knowledge of and experience with college and university level research methods and applications, usually acquired through completion of a university degree.

Salary Information
The salary for this position starts at $42.17 per hour (approximately $82,231 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $7,273.
