The Associate Vice-President, Student Success (AVP, Student Success) leads the services and supports that create a respectful and welcoming learning environment to prepare students to thrive in a rapidly changing world. This role is pivotal in driving the college’s strategic initiatives, fostering innovation, and ensuring the continuous improvement of educational programs and services.
Guided by the college’s strategic priority of ÍY,ĆANEUEL OL (doing good work together) the AVP, Student Success models collaboration, consultation, and cooperation, focusing on systems, structures and processes that enable faculty and staff to deliver quality, student-centred programs and services.

The AVP, Student Success is an advisor to the Provost and Vice-President Education and Innovation and represents the Provost as required. The Provost and AVP, Student Success collaborate to ensure the priorities of the Education Plan and other institutional plans are achieved, and to facilitate the continuous improvement of programs and services. The AVP, Student Success collaborates closely with other senior college leaders and plays a leading role in fostering excellence across the institution.

B) REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The AVP, Student Success reports to the Provost and Vice-President Education and Innovation.
The following positions report to the AVP, Student Success:
– Director, Applied Learning, Cooperative Education
– Director, Learning Services
– Director, South Island Partnership
– Director, Student Affairs
– Executive Director, Indigenous Education and Community Connections
– Executive Assistant
This role works closely with Deans, the Registrar, and the Executive Director of Camosun International to ensure alignment with divisional goals.

C) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
– The AVP, Student Success is responsible for the coordination, development, strategic planning, budget and resource allocation for the college’s
educational support and service areas.
– Responsible for the establishment of service standards and leads planning, assessment, and reporting for all areas of responsibility.
– Leads evidence-based approaches to enhance the development and delivery of programs and services.
– Acts as the steward for educational technology, and other systems and tools employed for education and service delivery.
– Accountable for the development and implementation of the division’s equity, diversity, and inclusion plan.
– Accountable for the divisions’ Indigenization efforts and commitment to reconciliation; supports work to foster self-determination in education.
– Manages oversight to the application and interpretation of policies related to student conduct, research, copyright, use of technology etc.
– Responds to appeals on policy-based decisions; provides support to Deans and Directors dealing with conduct issues. Encourages an open, supportive
relationship with the student community, and is respectful and understanding of diverse student issues and experiences.
– Acts as the liaison to the Camosun College Student Society.
– Participates in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of college and divisional strategic and other plans.
– In collaboration with the Provost, ensures directors achieve the goals and actions defined in the Education Plan.
– Assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of strategies and realigns as necessary and leads change management strategies to support the division’s
mandate; champions change that respects and reflects student needs and interests, and college values.
– Manages the allocation of the student fee and special funding.
– Oversees and coordinates the education division’s involvement in cross-college initiatives; works closely with other senior administrators and
serves in a leadership role on various strategic programs and initiatives.
– Chairs committees and working groups that enhance divisional and college-wide services, systems, and processes.
– Is a leader in the college’s strategic enrollment management initiatives, with a focus in areas related to student retention, persistence, and
success.
– Researches and evaluates educational and social trends and issues that impact education and service delivery.
– Champions development and learning for faculty and staff; supports the professional development for divisional leaders.
– Provides coaching and support to the divisional leaders in human resource management.
– Cultivates relationships, partnerships and collaborative projects with other post-secondary and community-based institutions.
– Serves as the deputy for the Provost; assumes duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated by the Provost.
