Bow Valley College is Alberta’s largest comprehensive community college, serving Calgary and the surrounding region, with 8 locations throughout Southern Alberta. Over 17,000 learners (7,804 FLEs) take part in year-round credit and non-credit programs.

For over 50 years, Bow Valley College has been designing and delivering education and skills training that is accessible, flexible, and responsive to labour market and learner needs in Calgary and the surrounding region.

Reporting to the Vice President, Academic, the Dean, Business and Technology is one of the key academic officers of the College.  As such, the Dean is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of responsive educational programming in the Chiu School of Business and in the School of Creative Technologies.

The Dean, Business and Techology will be a strong advocate for both School’s and will act as a builder of collaborative relationships both internally and externally to Bow Valley College. This individual will provide support and mentorship as the direct supervisor to faculty and staff, and will support faculty and staff in their professional development and scholarly activity to ensure delivery of a consistently high quality learning experience.

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field of study along with five years experience managing in an educational setting and significant instructional (or related) experience. This individual will effectively guide and work at the strategic level, engaging faculty members and staff to choose initiatives and manage priorities in the context of the Chiu School of Business, the School of Creative Technologies and Bow Valley College’s strategic vision. The ideal candidate will have a reputation as a bold advocate with a demonstrated ability to reach out and build relationships with multiple stakeholders, including community and industry leaders.
