Today, BCIT is among the largest polytechnics in Canada and has earned a reputation internationally as an organization laser-focused on strategic workplace development within a global context.

Among the many gems within BCIT is its School of Business and Media. Occupying a unique space among BC’s post-secondary institutions, the School of Business and Media offers a broad range of programs including Business Administration, Operations Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, Broadcast, and Media Communications, and Digital Arts and Media. Accredited by the ACBSP, the School of Business and Media is known for its innovation, flexibility, and relevance. From micro-credentials to the development of Masters-level offerings, the School is uniquely well-positioned to enhance the expertise of students of all types, regardless of where they are at in their professional journey. Faculty are vibrant, active, and enthusiastic leaders in a broad array of areas and operate with key themes in mind, including digital transformation, sustainability, globalization, and global leadership.

Due to a planned retirement, an opportunity exists for a progressive and visionary leader to assume the role of Dean, School of Business and Media. Leading a talented team that oversees 100 programs and 300 courses, the Dean will lead the School’s academic, international, and community activities, scholarship, and innovation to new heights. As a leader of one of BCIT’s largest Schools, this individual will serve as a key member of the leadership team and will support academic excellence and promote originality and innovation in teaching and scholarship, thereby continuing to differentiate the School in an ever-changing and highly competitive post-secondary landscape.

A strong record of accomplishment as a bold and visionary leader who can motivate and inspire, this experience will have been gained as either: a Dean, Associate Dean, Chair or Department Head in a Faculty relevant to the School of Business and Media from within a highly regarded academic institution, or as a seasoned executive from within the business community itself, where change leadership, strategic focus, and success in a competitive environment have been hallmarks of success.  What will be key in the case of a candidate from industry is that one can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of serving in an academic setting through teaching or service to the academic community. Regardless of background, having a finger on the pulse of the business community here and internationally will be key, as will be a strong sense of the competitive educational landscape.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly strategic, collaborative, and motivational leader to influence a generation of learners at an important juncture in terms of strategic workforce development in our province, and around the world.
