With increasing demand for a range of skills in the broader health sector, the College has elected to create a separate School of Health Studies by splitting the School of Health and Community Studies. It is within this context that the College is now recruiting for a Dean, School of Health Studies (Dean) to lead this critically important growth area for the College.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Academic, the Dean is accountable for contributing to the academic well-being and growth of the College and for providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, support, and direction to three Academic Chairs (Health Foundations, Allied Health, and Nursing), an Associate Chair, a Finance Manager, Professors and Support Staff in the School of Health Studies. The Dean is accountable for the planning, development, delivery, and on-going review of the faculty’s full-time and part-time post-secondary programs and for ensuring that the programs/courses are responsive and relevant to the needs of the students and the community. The Dean is also responsible for ensuring and conformity to accreditation requirements and national and provincial standards wherever applicable. The Dean will also ensure that the current and future educational needs of students are being met and determine if modifications to programs are needed, The Dean will also oversee the introduction of new courses, programs, and delivery modalities and will collaborate closely with staff to ensure programs reflect the changing landscape and employment needs of the broader industry.

As a well-qualified candidate, you have a passion for student success and education. You have obtained a master’s level degree and bring senior level experience working within a post-secondary institution or a related sector, preferably within a large, unionized environment. You bring a strategic and consensus building approach to administrative and academic leadership and a demonstrated understanding and commitment to teaching excellence and quality education, within an applied post-secondary environment. You also have a demonstrated understanding of student engagement and understand the value and practice of applied research. Your open, transparent, and collaborative approach will serve you well in working with students, faculty, staff, alumni, government officials, employers, and community stakeholders to achieve mutual goals. Your exceptional leadership and change management skills will be highly utilized in this role. Finally, experience within a health setting would be a definite asset.
