Fleming is seeking a Dean, School of Trades, Technology & Business to provide innovative and inspiring academic leadership as the college continues to elevate the student experience and grow these key academic programs. We are looking for a Dean who will be a changemaker, with the vision, experience and a connection to industry that will transform the school for the future workforce.
The Dean is accountable for the academic leadership, direction setting, strategic planning, enrolment management, and quality of learning experience for the School. The Dean provides academic and administrative leadership, supervision, support, and direction to the School’s administration and support staff, ensuring staff excellence, and provides organizational leadership for corporate initiatives as required. The Dean is responsive to the needs of students and upholds the college’s values of putting student learning first and excellent faculty-student interaction. The incumbent will provide transformational leadership to the on-going development of the School’s team culture, and build effective relations across Schools/Service Departments and with partners outside the college. The Dean develops, grows, and maintains community and professional association relationships. The Dean is also accountable for the School’s fiscal performance, the maintenance of a safe workplace and learning environment, and the ongoing satisfaction of the School’s students and staff. This role will be of particular importance to reforming and enhancing the School of Business to meet labour market demands.
As the ideal candidate, you have more than 10 years of progressive academic leadership experience. You hold an MBA (or equivalent post graduate degree). You are an inclusive leader with a strong understanding of diversity and equity. You are open-minded and approachable with well-developed public relations and promotional skills. You are strategic and incisive, readily able to lead strategic planning and mobilize execution. A dynamic communicator, you are a “people-person” who can inspire and energize a team and align its members towards a common strategic goal. You are experienced in leading change management initiatives, curriculum design, and academic program design and delivery. You demonstrate outstanding mediation, facilitation, and negotiation skills, and take pride in your ability to cultivate a collegial, collaborative work environment. A digitally savvy person, you have a sound understanding of electronic media applied to educational delivery.
