You will be employed on a full-time basis. It is understood that the hours of work involved will vary and be irregular and are those hours of work required to meet the objectives of your employment. Normal hours of operation are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, M - F


We are currently seeking an inclusive leader with a strong focus on service to join our team as Director of Campus Management. This position is multi-faceted, with the primary role being to provide strategic direction and leadership for the polytechnic’s campus facilities.

As a member of the Polytechnic’s Senior Leadership team, the Director of Campus Management will be accountable to create and implement a functional and welcoming physical learning, working and social environment within RDP facilities as well as planning and stewardship of operational environmental sustainability initiatives. The Director chairs and/or participates on various committees as a representative of Red Deer Polytechnic or Campus Management. Key contract services include facility maintenance, janitorial services, food services, bookstore services, and contract services. Direct reports include a team of up to 5 individuals leading teams of operations, facility infrastructure & engineering, facility space planning and materials management.
Red Deer Polytechnic has been a pivotal part of central Alberta for nearly six decades. Since our story began as Red Deer College in 1964, we have proudly served our learners and communities with diverse programs, as well as impressive learning spaces and facilities.
In the spring of 2021, our institution was officially granted status as a polytechnic, and our new name and brand were announced soon after. Knowledge and Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in facility planning and operations
  • Strong leadership competencies with ability to lead and manage teams
  • Background and experience in project management
  • Background and experience in the development of RFP’s and contracts for the aforementioned services
  • Sound competencies in planning processes, building and operating systems, and management of people
  • Strong fiscal and budget management, development, and analytical skills related to both construction and operational budgets
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spread sheets, project management software, and maintenance request service portals
  • Ability to work with computer aided drafting programs
  • Sound working knowledge of municipal bylaws, building construction, building science and building codes
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking to be able to develop and implement both short-term and long-term operational plans and goals for the Division
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
  • Results oriented team player and team motivator/mentor
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives such as Lean Six Sigma is considered an asset
  • Experience with energy and utility management is considered an asset

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Strategic direction and leadership of facility growth and change
  • People leadership including effective recruitment and selection, retention, coaching, supervision, performance management of team in compliance with People and Culture policies and procedures, FOIP, and collective agreements
  • Development and modifications to Red Deer Polytechnic Campus Management Master Plan
  • Preventative maintenance and planned renewal of campus architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil infrastructure systems
  • Guides the planning and development of energy conservation strategies, operational environmental sustainability initiatives, the Polytechnic’s Green Campus working group/program
  • Oversees both the implementation and updating of the RDP Green Campus Master Plan
  • Leads the development and evaluation of both RFP’s and contracts related to the various projects and services in this Division
  • Leads and oversees all major capital projects on behalf of RDP
  • Financial management and reporting


  • Degree in architecture, engineering, facility administration, or a related discipline
