As Fleming College continues to work actively to deliver on the goals set out in Our Fleming, Our Future, its 2019-24 strategic plan, it is seeking a passionate, creative and out-of-the-box thinker with a successful track record of experience in financial services to join the College’s Finance leadership team as Director, Financial Services.

About the Role
This senior mandate calls for a finance professional who can act as a partner to the VP, Corporate Finance, the senior management team, and the Deans and Chairs of the College, with a focus on driving value. Reporting directly to the VP of Corporate Finance, you will be responsible for the financial health of the College, safekeeping of its financial assets, its financial information system, the development and maintenance of relevant policy, accurate financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning reports and analysis, and ensuring compliance with all statutory, Ministry and management reporting requirements.

As Director, you will be accountable for College-wide expenditure management and resource allocation, including payables, accounts receivables (including student receivables and collection), the procure-to-pay process, and the overall design of the enterprise resource planning system with integration to purchasing and payroll.

In addition, you’ll be responsible for the College’s annual audited financial statements, the compliance with accounting standards, financial reporting and controllership, as well as grant submissions and funding reports. You’ll also provide financial forecast, evaluate and advise on the cost effectiveness of programs and activities, develop and document new accounting/business procedures and policies, and facilitate sound financial planning by developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective budgeting system.
Overseeing two Managers, including unionized staff, you will engender a healthy and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity, collaboration and high-performance, empowered teams.

About the Candidate
An accomplished leader with a degree in the field of Accounting or Finance, a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA), and more than 10 years of experience in management, preferably in the education industry, you are ready to take on the exciting challenges and opportunities presented by this directorship. Given the environment in which the College operates, you will also put to work your solid understanding of accounting principles, especially including Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB), and knowledge of Ministry of Colleges and Universities guidelines and directives, as well as CRA rules and regulations.
While this is a senior leadership role, you must be teamwork-oriented and able to take a “hands on” approach, not only willing to lead the team, but also to be part of the team in planning activities and the
execution of a plan. You demonstrate excellent business communication skills and are comfortable liaising and working collaboratively with the senior management team.

On a technical level, you have an analytical mindset, along with excellent advanced knowledge of MS Excel in business modelling, strong skills using ERP Accounting systems, and a strong knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Power BI.
