Applications are invited for the position of ­­­­­­­­­­­­Director, Global Engagement in the International Division, located at the Niagara Corporate Business Centre located next to the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.

Reporting to the Vice President, International and working closely with the Director, International the successful candidate is responsible for developing, managing and sustaining the College’s international student recruitment, partnerships, development projects, contract consultancy and offshore campuses and program development in key markets around the world. The Director collaborates with key members of the International Division, Academic, Student Services, Research and Corporate Services divisions in support of progressive international business development, and manages the effective and efficient delivery of secured international projects to meet required performance outcomes and contracted deliverables.

Modeling and nurturing the NC DNA qualities of Trailblazing, Welcoming, and Passionate the Director is responsible for the coordination, negotiation, external liaison, operations management and relationship management leadership needed to identify, launch, support and grow an increasing enrolment base, projects and contracts between Niagara College and educational institutions, governments, companies and training organizations in key international markets.

The Director also oversees the project management process including both the human and physical resources required to cultivate, bid, develop, and ensure successful implementation and ongoing support of training initiatives and off-shore and outside of Niagara campus and program deliveries.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • International business development ensuring the diversity of revenue sources and activities
  • Developing and implementing short and long term student recruitment strategies to achieve the College’s strategic enrolment targets for international students
  • Works with the International leadership team to develop and launch ongoing business development plans for the College’s international partnerships, education, training and consulting services
  • Leads the development of proposals for industry, government, or development agencies for funding to promote or deliver innovative programs and services which the College has created to meet specific needs in international markets
  • Negotiates the terms and conditions of contracts and partnership agreements with overseas partners and with any other partners within parameters set by the College
  • Oversees a portfolio of project and program management services and/or field projects with internally-developed and approved project management best practice for international education
  • Prioritizes programs and projects based on the college’s objectives dealing with changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure and related project/contract interdependencies
  • Responsible for all aspects of staffing for the division
  • Responsible for a significant annual budget within the International division
  • Fosters and develops a strong team environment with high levels of employee engagement

 Qualifications: 

  • Masters Degree in Business, International Business, Public Administration, Education, Law or other related field of study
  • PMI (project management) considered an asset
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience to include at least 7 years of relevant senior management experience
  • Proven track record in developing and conducting international business for a college/university or similar educational organization
  • Experience in planning, development and management of international education or training projects including budgetary responsibility
  • Experience and expertise in teaching, developing curricula and/or academic administration
  • Familiarity with the strategies of international education and the economic and political impact of key market areas
  • Strong negotiation and proposal writing skills
  • A second language is considered an asset

Niagara College offers a competitive compensation, pension and benefits package.  The salary range is set at payband 15 which is currently $116,263 to $155,018.
