Excluded position: Grid 12, $86,619.00 - $115,492.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications as per NLC’s Excluded Salary Scale. An excellent benefit package is offered, including extended health and dental benefits. Annual vacation is pro-rated and front-loaded, based on 210 hours/FTE, as well as time off paid for the period between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Contributions to the College Pension Plan are mandatory for all full-time excluded staff.
Knowledge and Skills
Are you a servant leader with the experience to coach, mentor, and empower a high-performing interdisciplinary team of 10? Do you have experience dealing with a broad customer base and producing quality marketing and/or promotional material? Do you have knowledge of current student recruitment practices and strategic enrolment management and management?
We need an individual with strong skills in research and analysis of information and data, along with superior written, presentation, and oral communication skills. If you have knowledge of, and experience in, applying best practices and trends in marketing communications, this could be a great fit for you.
Managerial experience in a union setting is preferred and experience with budget development and administration is required. As well, knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate/core competences which include customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management, and accountability are required.
The ideal candidate will also have highly developed editing and writing skills, along with the demonstrated ability to develop communication strategies for NLC.
The ability to travel and work outside regular business hours will be a requirement of the position. A current, valid driver’s license will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President of People and Institutional Strategy, the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Prospective Student Engagement is the primary strategist for the College’s communications, marketing, and domestic student recruitment and, including brand and image management.
The position is responsible for internal and external communications, marketing, advertising and promotional materials, media relations, government relations, public relations, student recruitment, and issues management.
The ideal candidate is a collaborator, facilitator, and administrator working across the institution with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
A post-secondary degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related area of study. Advanced degree preferred. In addition, two years’ supervisory experience and five years’ experience in the post-secondary sector are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
