The School of Indigenous Education is seeking an Instructor to teach a variety of courses in the Indigenous Social Entrepreneurship specialization, and the Social Innovation and Community Development Program. The successful candidate reports to the Chair of Aboriginal Education and Access Programs and is part of the instructional team and will be expected to perform all the duties related to instructing including preparing course outlines, lesson plan development, maintaining student records, student evaluation, assist in college activities including student orientation, graduation, and relevant committees. The successful candidate will think creatively and have a demonstrated history of leading business and/or social entrepreneurship.

The position will include working collaboratively with Indigenous communities and industry to provide the best support to inspire students to launch their startups.


  • Degree in Business or Indigenous Governance; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in a Business and/or Indigenous studies
  • Self-identifies as an Indigenous/Aboriginal person with lived experience
  • Significant and current related business startup experience or supporting other Indigenous business startups
  • Experience with developing, marketing, researching, and building a business startup, in Social Purpose organizations and/or community organizations, for profit or government
  • Experience and/or understanding of finance grants or proposals to support Entrepreneurs.
  • Experience and/or understanding of community engagement processes including hosting, coordinating, conducting focus groups
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, specifically when working with Indigenous Elders and community
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams) and ability to adapt to new technologies
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Demonstration of excellent presentation skills
  • Demonstration of excellent verbal communication skills

  • Completion of the Teaching for Learning in Applied Education program or current enrolment
  • Experience Entrepreneur in Residence model or supporting Indigenous Entrepreneurs


  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Application program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
