Salary range for this position is as per the Academic Collective Agreement - $63,971 to $110,897. Position to commence August 2019.
Knowledge and Skills
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This position requires a relevant three-year engineering technologist diploma or a graduate degree (MSc or higher) in a related engineering and technology area. In both cases, at least five years of related advanced industrial process instrumentation and control experience is required. Certificate of Qualification as an Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A) or P.Eng would be considered an asset. The candidate needs to have demonstrated field and teaching experience in designing and commissioning Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and industrial wireless communication networks. In depth knowledge of instrumentation and process control equipment systems, plant operations, PLC hardware and software configuration is necessary. Knowledge of advanced DSC controls such as real time optimization or statistical control is an asset.
Teaching experience and a background that encompasses installation, calibration, testing, troubleshooting process variables transmitters and transducers, data communications, process controllers as well as experience in university or industrial applied research are highly desirable.

Candidates who demonstrate knowledge or competency in the following academic skills and abilities will be given preference: curriculum design; instructional design and delivery; active, collaborative learning techniques; effective assessment and evaluation of learning; and appropriate use of technology for teaching and learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective environment through the design and revision of programs and courses, defining and evaluating learning outcomes, developing appropriate teaching and learning environments, and developing / selecting appropriate learning materials. You will be expected to support student learning and progress, as well as create assessments, rubrics, and evaluate student achievement.
Participating in the development and modification of curriculum, participating in various committees, and keeping current in your field through consultation with business and industry representatives are essential components of this position. In this role, you will work collaboratively with your teaching team to ensure quality program delivery and student experiences.
You will champion the development of customized training and educational programs in collaboration with public and private sector partners. Program promotion and student recruitment are essential areas of responsibility.
