St. Lawrence College
St. Lawrence College is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. May we always be grateful to live and learn on these lands.
St. Lawrence College (“SLC”) is an integral part of the economic and social fabric of Eastern Ontario. With campuses located in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall, SLC consistently ranks as one of Ontario’s leading community colleges by preparing students for the global economy with relevant, practical, and experiential learning opportunities. Offering over 100 full-time programs, SLC is a vibrant college community of 1,500 employees, 10,000 full-time students, and more than 100,000 graduates and alumni from over 44 countries around the globe. The College’s Strategic Plan “SLC in Five” along with the SLC’s values of Students First, Teamwork, Innovation, Integrity, and Belonging are the foundation to achieving success.
St. Lawrence College is seeking a proven academic leader as its new Senior Vice-President, Academic (SVPA). Reporting to the President, and as a member of the College Executive Team (CET), the SVPA will provide effective leadership and management of the Academic division and its dedicated team to ensure excellence in teaching and learning. This includes oversight for the academic plan, effective resource planning, recruitment and development of faculty, and program development, delivery, quality assurance, and accreditation of the College’s post-secondary and non-post-secondary academic programs and services, as well as financial/budgeting oversight of the division. As a trusted partner and member of the CET, the SVPA will work collaboratively across all college divisions to provide strategic leadership and cohesion, while engaging externally with community and industry partners to ensure the College remains highly visible and rooted in the communities it serves. The SVPA will also play a lead role in the development of partnerships and relationships with other PSE institutions, government, private sector, and community partners to support continued growth and opportunities for SLC and its students.
Joining this successful community college, and recognizing people as its core strength, the SVPA will inspire, support, and empower the academic division. They will ensure innovative teaching and learning opportunities are pursued that will keep SLC at the forefront of higher education globally, support academic excellence, put students first, and help prepare career-ready graduates to meet present and future workforce needs. Bringing demonstrated experience to advance the College’s commitment to Belonging, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (BEDI), and Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being (IWKB), the SVPA will support faculty, staff, and leaders in realizing meaningful outcomes, in all academic and service delivery areas, and in meeting the needs of a diverse student community. The SLC health and wellness plan will also be a vital part of building staff and student community strength and wellbeing.
The successful candidate will bring a track-record of proven, progressive, authentic, and people-centered academic leadership within post-secondary education. Inspiring, engaging, consultative, and collaborative, SLC’s new Senior Vice-President, Academic will embody and model SLC’s values, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills that foster engagement, mutual trust, and respect with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
