Aurora College's mission is to demonstrate leadership in the delivery of relevant and meaningful education and research rooted in strong connections to Northern land, tradition, community and people.
This position reports directly to the Manager, Information Systems and Technology (IST), and provides supervision and guidance to the IT Technician. The incumbent supports all Aurora College staff, students, and operations by administering Aurora College's information systems and network infrastructure and providing technical support and training. This system includes the campuses, Community Learning Centres (CLCs), the Aurora Research Institute (ARI) offices, and the Office of the President. Responsibilities include:
• Manages and coordinates the planning, development, and operations of the College network infrastructure and information systems in consultation with the Manager, Information Systems and Technology and campus IST staff.
• Maintain the security of the College's server infrastructure in order to ensure the integrity of data.
• Provides technical support, maintenance, and modifications for the Aurora College network infrastructure and information systems.
• Manages a Helpdesk and end-user support for the Office of the President and campus locations to ensure effective and timely response to hardware and software problems
The incumbent must work within the context of the College's mission, vision, goals and policies of Aurora College and the GNWT, and in accordance with the College's Distance Education Strategy to ensure that information systems and network infrastructure are properly administered, supported and maintained. The position is guided by the Aurora College Strategic and Business Plans, the Code of Ethics, the Aurora College Act, the Education Act, GNWT policies, regulations, legislation and guidelines, and the UNW Collective Agreement.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
The completion of a degree in computer science or information systems and six (6) years of recent and related network and Microsoft Windows server administrator experience.
