The University of Toronto (UofT) is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as its next Chief Information Security and Digital Trust Officer (CISDTO). This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of digital trust and cybersecurity at one of the world’s leading research universities.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the CISDTO will provide enterprise-wide leadership and oversight of UofT’s Information Security and Digital Trust Program. This role is critical in ensuring that the university’s networks, systems, and data are protected in compliance with regulatory and policy requirements, while also aligning with UofT’s risk posture and deep commitment to digital integrity, transparency, and human-centred innovation. The CISDTO will lead a broad portfolio that includes enterprise information security projects, identity and access management, application and infrastructure security, and incident response across UofT’s three campuses and remote sites. Beyond technical leadership, the CISDTO will champion a culture of digital trust by embedding privacy, safety, and accountability into the university’s digital ecosystem. This includes guiding the responsible adoption of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and distributed systems, ensuring that human-in-the-loop principles, transparency, and institutional values are at the forefront.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with exceptional communication and leadership skills, embodying an enterprise and service-oriented mindset. The CISDTO brings a deep understanding of cybersecurity, data governance, privacy regulations, and responsible technology use from a complex and ideally research-intensive organization. Adept at building relationships and fostering engagement across organizational levels, candidates should be results-driven with several years of experience in a leadership capacity. A graduate degree or equivalent combination of academic training and professional experience is expected.
