What This Position is About:
This is a temporary assignment of one year with the possibility of the position becoming permanent.
In this key leadership position you will be accountable for providing academic and administrative leadership, supervision, and direction to support staff and all full-time and contract faculty within the School of Business. With a focus on program vitality and quality, you are also responsible for the School’s day-to-day operations which includes: hiring, managing and developing faculty and staff; developing and managing workload assignments; ensuring the health and safety of students, faculty and staff; overseeing curriculum revision processes for the School; and providing leadership in academic processes such as program review, capital planning, curriculum renewal, and budget development.

What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking qualified candidates who demonstrate strong leadership capabilities; exhibit a passion for student learning; have knowledge of learning design and innovative teaching and learning strategies; possess exemplary organizational and interpersonal skills; and model our core values.
As our ideal candidate, you will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline, but would consider further education, such as a Master’s degree, to be an asset. In addition to your educational background, you have built a successful career in business, hospitality or tourism.
You have superior leadership skills and have demonstrated experience supporting employee performance through effective recruitment and selection, performance evaluation, guiding and coaching, driving employee engagement, and supporting the ongoing professional development and health and safety of your staff. You are an excellent listener and are open minded, flexible, transparent, supportive and approachable. You value collaborative decision making and you have a proven track record of superior communications and in influencing and inspiring your team. You cultivate synergies across disciplines, bring creative solutions to complex problems, remove barriers for your team and implement objectives with excellence.
Experience in a unionized environment is an asset. Your real-world management experience will be put into practice in the School as you lead your staff and ensure that their assignments are consistent with College policies and procedures, Collective Agreements, and best practices.
To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong understanding of the processes of learning and teaching, with experience in budgeting as well as curriculum design, development and delivery. You understand the need to promote, facilitate and integrate flexible and responsive delivery methods and have an understanding of the importance of designing and delivering education that meets student needs, including applied learning. You will be a strategic thinker who can develop and deliver an engaging vision that brings our core promise to students to life, yet you also thrive in managing the details of the day-to-day academic operations of the School.
