Through consultation with the Dean of The School of Trades and Technologies, the Associate Dean is primarily responsible for the effective management of the programs assigned within the School’s responsibilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, organizing, staffing, and managing resources for the School.


  • A Trades Red Seal or Technology Diploma plus a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree; with a Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Extensive relevant practical Trades or Technology experience.
  • A minimum of three years relevant teaching experience in a post-secondary setting, with a minimum of 2 years proven administrative experience; however a combination of teaching and administrative/professional experience will be considered.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the role, history and mandate of the B.C. community college post-secondary system as well as a comprehensive understanding of the philosophy of adult learning models.
  • Knowledge of the B.C. public post-secondary system, Ministry of Jobs, Tourism & Skills Training and Ministry of Advanced Education as well as the secondary system through the Department of Education will be preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with, and an understanding of, aboriginal education in a community college context.
  • Requires excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills with a demonstrated strong desire to collaborate and cooperate with others for both immediate and strategic outcomes.
  • Requires evidence-based decision-making and excellent judgement when balancing competing demands.
  • A proven ability to lead and manage.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing long-range strategies based on learner needs, institutional priorities and labour market and government developments is an asset.

SALARY: The salary range for the position is $76,839 – $102,452, with an excellent benefits package;

START DATE: August 20, 2018
