As leader of AU’s internal audit function, the Chief Internal Auditor (CIA) is an important advisor and resource to the University’s Board of Governors and senior leadership team. Reporting functionally to the Audit Committee of the Board and administratively to the Vice-President, Finance and Administration, the CIA is accountable for the development and management of a broad, comprehensive program of internal audit at Athabasca University with a focus on a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the University’s risk management, control, compliance and governance processes.

The successful candidate will be a strategic, accomplished internal audit professional who has demonstrated success providing audit services within a complex, multi-faceted environment. The CIA will combine their outstanding strategic business abilities with demonstrated experience utilizing a systematic, proactive and data-driven approach for ensuring institutional operations, processes and policies align with overarching mandates, goals and objectives.
