Salary Range: $111,349 – 148,464
Durham College seeks a proven leader to lead its team of dynamic professionals in the Office of International Education. Reporting to the Vice-President Academic, the Dean will be accountable for providing strategic and operational direction and action for a full spectrum of activities associated with international education at Durham College. This includes recruitment, international mobility, internationalization of the college, and the development of new revenue-generating opportunities, partnerships and business initiatives that will contribute to the continued growth of the college.
The Dean will manage the operational planning and effective utilization of all available resources (physical, human and financial) to ensure the college’s mandate and strategic direction are successfully understood and implemented internally and globally. The incumbent will be accountable for overseeing the coordinated approach of a broad-range of interrelated, college-wide programs and services as they apply to academic programming for international students including their cultural, social, and academic well-being. They will also be responsible for the development of contracts related to international initiatives, the co-ordination of quality initiatives, and overviewing curriculum being delivered by partnering institutions off-shore.
The Dean of International Education will act as an invaluable source of international market intelligence including being accountable for expert advisory services to the senior management team on a wide range of planning issues related to the future direction of international education. Responsible for the development and implementation of strategic enrolment management initiatives as they affect international business development.
As the lead member of the Durham College International Education management team, the Dean works with the VP Academic, Academic Leadership Team, Strategic Enrolment Services, Finance, and the International team to develop, implement, and evaluate international education and global engagement opportunities for incoming international students and all Durham College students and employees. These responsibilities relate directly to the goals and objectives outlined in the college’s Strategic, Academic and Internationalization and Global Engagement Plans.
The Dean represents the department as required on college committees, national and international organizations, agencies and while attending conferences. The Dean is also a primary liaison with local, provincial, federal and international governments and government agencies in relation to Durham College international education.
The Dean will establish, develop and maintain the strategic direction for the department in alignment with other college planning processes and is responsible for the financial health of the department. The individual is also responsible for risk management as per the college policy as it relates to activities of the department.
The Dean will have superior communication and presentation skills and the capacity to speak to diverse groups as well as demonstrated interpersonal, mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. They will have proven and progressive management experience as a leader and visionary in international education.
The incumbent will possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in a related discipline. The incumbent will possess seven years’ experience in a senior leadership capacity involving significant complexity and scope within an academic and entrepreneurial enterprise.
International travel may be required.
