Bow Valley College is Alberta’s largest comprehensive community college. From humble beginnings 50 years ago, we now serve over 15,000 learners annually with locations throughout Southern Alberta, including three state-of-the-art campuses in downtown Calgary and six additional regional campuses.

Reporting to the Vice President, Academic, and as a member of the divisional leadership team, the Dean is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination and implementation of the College’s Regional Stewardship Strategy and Business Plan as guided by Bow Valley College’s Innovation and Advanced Education Roles and Mandates Framework and the college mandate.

The Dean is expected to be able to contribute creatively to the planning and delivery of educational programming and services and think “outside the box” in designing learning solutions for a variety of learners and customers. Effective management of multiple campuses, offices, and partnership sites to support educational programming and departments is a priority to continually build the college brand and presence. At present, there are seven locations within the region.

The ideal candidate brings demonstrated strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to gain the confidence and respect of external stakeholders, College leaders, faculty and staff members. You will have the ability to influence the organization at various levels and build consensus towards achieving the vision and goals of the College. You will have a relevant Master’s degree, combined with a commitment to instructional and service excellence and creating a learner-focused environment that fosters excellent adult learning opportunities, exploring innovative approaches and access to learning.

Personally, the ideal individual is approachable and open, collaborative, credible, entrepreneurial, politically astute, high energy, resilient, courageous, adaptable, comfortable in an environment of uncertainty and ambiguity, creative, curious, a team player and team builder, strategic, and visionary.
