Job Description

Bow Valley College is Alberta’s largest comprehensive community college. From humble beginnings 50 years ago, we now serve over 15,000 learners annually with locations throughout Southern Alberta, including three state-of-the-art campuses in downtown Calgary.

Reporting to the Vice President, Learner Services and Chief Financial Officer, the Director of International Education is tasked with creating a market niche for Bow Valley College’s International Educational operations and transforming it into a multi-faceted business development unit, within Canada and Internationally.

The Director works collaboratively with the Academic Deans and College Directors, and in order to be responsive to opportunities and changing market demands, the department is staffed with a mix of salaried, contract and project staff across a range of functions. Launching new products and services, providing mobility opportunities for learners and staff, and supplying the Alberta labour market with skilled intercultural competent graduates are the priorities driving the transformation from a focus on recruiting international students to BVC programs, to also being a major player in the post-secondary landscape for global and workplace training within the college’s recognized areas of expertise.

The ideal candidate brings originality and creativity to research markets, trends and competitive analysis to generate opportunities for new revenue growth, integrating the strengths of the institution across academic programming and business development. You will have significant leadership experience in international programming and business development within post-secondary or non-profit environments. You will have a relevant degree, in addition to superior intercultural skills and respect and support for diversity.

Personally, the ideal individual is approachable and open, collaborative, credible, entrepreneurial, politically astute, high energy, resilient, courageous, adaptable, comfortable in an environment of uncertainty and ambiguity, creative, curious, a team player and team builder, strategic, and visionary.
