George Brown is looking for a Director of Finance to play a key role in ensuring sound, compliant financial planning, services, operations, and reporting, and ultimately support the success of students and the College.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services and as the most senior finance leader in the college, the Director of Finance will provide direction, trusted advice and comprehensive financial expertise to management and the Board. Accountable for College-wide expenditure management and resource allocation, this role includes management of College funds, financial analysis, and reporting and auditing requirements. Exercising considerable business acumen, the Director of Finance will plan and manage financial activities in line with the College’s strategic direction; develop overall financial planning goals; and work closely with senior management to develop the total College budget, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, including submissions to the Board of Governors.

Leading with a collaborative and inclusive style, the Director will inspire the sizeable finance team to promote innovation across the College. Seeking opportunities and identifying solutions, the finance team actively makes operations more effective, and proposes new ways to increase revenue and funds. Process optimization, making recommendations for change, and building relationships with multi-disciplinary leaders are integral to this role.

As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Finance has responsibility to contribute to the overall success of the college by participating in decision-making, understanding the broader needs of the College; being aware of internal and external trends that impact it; devising cross-divisional and college-wide strategy; and ensuring that the overall College KPIs and financial goals are met. Your depth and breadth of financial expertise are solidly grounded in a CPA designation, complemented with a track record of successful senior-level management of day-to-day financial activities of a large, complex organization and team of accounting professionals.
