Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Student Services & Registrar, the Director, Student Affairs and PA Campus Administrator is responsible and accountable for the leadership of the Port Alberni Campus and college wide leadership and management for Student Affairs, including a key focus on leadership for student conduct, student case management and the risk assessment and prevention team. This position provides campus operational leadership and acts as immediate point of contact to be available to troubleshoot and resolve issues with respect to maintaining the campus/centre operations in an efficient and effective manner.

The Director provides leadership and management to NIC’s enrollment team, counseling services, Department of Accessible Learning Services and to the Manager, Student Life. The Director oversees judicial affairs college wide with the support of and in collaboration of the Manager, Student Life. This includes responsibility either reviewing, investigating, adjudicating and managing student cases in accordance with all institutional policies related to academic and non-academic misconduct.

The Director assists in the development of the annual operating budget and manages the work and budget of staff which are part of the larger Registration and Student Services team. The Director also provides management responses to student and staff concerns. The Director is responsible for contributing to the development of policy affecting students and implementation of the policy.

The Director is part of the Student Services management team led by the AVP, Student Services & Registrar and includes the Assistant Registrars’ team. The Director liaises closely with the Regional Director, Continuing Education & Training as well as the Chairs and Deans on enrolment issues and takes a leadership role in campus based initiatives.

The Director promotes and creates a positive campus climate, to foster trust and provide campus stability, and to support campus objectives and the overall vision and mission of the college.
