Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) is a comprehensive community institution, established in 1966 in Grande Prairie, and our stewardship region includes campuses in Fairview and Grande Prairie, as well as learning centres in Edson, Grande Cache, Hinton and Jasper. The Department of Arts Fine Arts requires an instructor to teach undergraduate courses in Drama. This full-time sessional position will commence August 15, 2018 and end April 30, 2019.
The successful candidate will be able to deliver an introduction to the process of acting and to dramatic form, as well as be able to teach speech and movement improvisation with an emphasis on imaginative development as it relates to both Theatre and Musical Theatre.

A Master of Fine Arts in Drama or Theatre with a focus on “experience in” Musical Theatre is required; PhD preferred. Experience in directing plays including Musical Theatre productions is required, as well as professional acting experience. Evidence of successful instruction of undergraduate courses in Drama and Musical Theatre is also required. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of Moodle and other educational technologies are considered an asset;
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong relationships across the organization
- A high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability
- Desire to build relationships with community groups and schools
- Desire to be part of a multi-disciplinary Fine Arts program
