Principal, Akerley Campus

We are looking for a senior academic leader to create a dynamic environment for the people who learn and work at NSCC’s Akerley Campus. You will need to be equally adept at inspiring people to do their best, community relations, fiscal management, human resources management, operational planning and the design and delivery of excellent post-secondary education. Providing daily leadership to approximately 875 full-time students and a staff group of about 145 will require outstanding communication and team-building skills. Fortunately, you have been honing these skills all your working life.

We are Nova Scotia Community College. Our mission is to help “Build Nova Scotia’s economy and quality of life through education and innovation.” We offer 130 advanced skill programs in five academic schools, serving the whole province through a network of 13 campuses. Eighty-seven percent of our graduates are employed, most in their field of study; 94% have chosen to live and work in Nova Scotia.

Our newest Principal must have ten years of relevant experience, and have served recently in a senior leadership role within a post-secondary institution. You must hold a graduate degree and have taught at the post-secondary level. You have a demonstrated knowledge of the principles of adult education, portfolio education and the learning-centred College. If you have experience working with diverse communities, it would be a great asset. Experience within the trades and technology sector and/or hospitality and tourism industry would also be considered an asset. You are a highly collaborative leader who builds and motivates teams to do amazing things. And you are looking for the challenge of a lifetime.
