The Opportunity: Provost and Vice-President Academic & Students
Reporting to the President, the Provost and Vice-President Academic & Students (“Provost”) is the senior academic officer of the College and provides leadership for short and long-term academic planning as well as for the development and overall implementation of College-wide educational, human resources, and fiscal policies pertaining to the academic/regular studies portfolio. The Provost is responsible for advancing the academic mandate of the College through the development and implementation of strategies that promote growth and success in teaching and learning through the integration of library services, program development initiatives, program review/renewal processes, and the application of technology to pedagogy. The Provost provides strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of student support and development services for the College community including registrar and enrollment services, and is responsible for advancing Indigenization of the College and curricula by strengthening relationships with Aboriginal communities, organizations, and other partners.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Graduate degree (preferably at Doctoral level);
- Minimum 10 years’ post-secondary leadership and management experience at a senior level (i.e. Dean or Director) in a unionized public sector environment; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
- Instructional experience at the post-secondary level;
- Understanding of labour relations matters and collective bargaining processes;
- Experience developing and implementing new strategies, policies, and procedures;
- Knowledge of the BC post-secondary system including rules, regulations, and procedures;
- Knowledge of student and learning support, registration and enrolment services.
