Join Colleges and Institutes Canada as it embarks on an exciting project inspired by its new strategic plan.

Recognizing the unique ability of Canada’s colleges and institutes to foster social and economic inclusion, the RECODE project at the McConnell Foundation recently made a grant to CICan for a special initiative in support of its vision of a better future.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Government Relations and Canadian Partnerships and working closely with post-secondary leaders throughout Canada, the Senior Project Coordinator will lead a series of activities that exemplify the shared values and aspirations of the college and institute system.

If you are a fluently bilingual, seasoned project manager with a passion for inclusion, social innovation and sustainable development, we would love to hear from you.

Context:

Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) will launch a new five-year strategic plan in 2019 inspired by the vision of “a strong college and institute system for a better future”. CICan’s mission is to strengthen the system by acting as a “force multiplier”, amplifying the capacity of its members who can do more together than any one of them can do alone.

Recognizing the unique ability of the college and institute system to help create a better future during a period of intense change, disruption and opportunity, the RECODE project at the McConnell Foundation recently made a grant to CICan to strengthen and accelerate its members’ contributions towards achieving social and economic inclusion. The funding from McConnell, together with in-kind contributions from CICan and its members, will be used to carry out a multi-phase initiative over the next three years (2019 to 2022).

Phase 1 of the CICan/McConnell Initiative will engage CICan members in a fresh articulation of the value proposition of the college and institute system, based on its members’ core values and aspirations and focusing on the future and the many ways that post-secondary institutions can help make it bright and prosperous for all. Subsequent phases will involve a series of collaborative projects inspired by these values and aspirations, led by members and involving external partners and stakeholders. Each project will pursue a specific, well-defined opportunity to foster social and economic inclusion. Project teams may require and/or seek additional funding from external sources in order to continue or complete their work and achieve their objectives. Projects will be considered successful if they lead to positive impacts and can be replicated, scaled and sustained beyond the three-year project period. CICan will play the role of convenor, facilitator, enabler and promoter.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice-President, Government Relations and Canadian Partnerships and working closely with the senior management team, the Senior Project Coordinator will lead all activities associated with the CICan-McConnell initiative. The logic model will draw on theories of change associated with the social innovation movement and Canada’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Serve as a spokesperson for the project through oral and written communications, formal presentations, social media, etc.
  • Provide support to CICan’s President and senior managers in their roles as project champions and spokespersons.
